UT Study on Sexual Assault

On Tuesday, September 15, The  Austin American Statesman published an article titled: "UT study finds 2 in 5 females in Texas are victims of sexual assault" 

This is an important read for anyone, as it affects many Texans. As many as 6.3 million of adult Texans have been the victims of sexual assault. It is a serious problem, as sexual assault can happen to both males and females. As many as 2 out of 5 women and 1 out of 5 men have been sexually assaulted. The numbers have tripled since 2003, in part because researchers expanded what sexual harassment is defined as in the Texas Penal Code, as it also includes unwanted kissing, unwanted sexual contact, and involuntary exposure to sexual materials. In fact, the researchers themselves said "...Data indicate that sexual assault should be a crime of great concern in the State of Texas, given its prevalence and impact upon Texans..."
